Details

The University Dames invites all women who are new to the University community, including female staff/employees and spouses and partners of  staff/faculty to our annual Welcome Reception.  The evening, hosted by past and current leaders of the Dames, will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and opportunities to connect with others, as well as a short program introducing newcomers to  Oxford and the region.

And there will be door prizes!!!

Attendees don’t have to be a member of Dames to attend, but if interested, membership forms and information about our special interest groups will be available.

We hope to see you there!

P.S. We are sorry that this year’s reception will not include a tour of Oxford on the Double-Decker Bus as it has for many years in the past. Sadly, the bus is out of commission this fall.

About Bryant Hall

Renamed in 1984 in honor of W. Alton Bryant, Vice Chancellor Emeritus and former chair of the Dept. of English, Bryant Hall was constructed in 1911 and includes classrooms, faculty offices, and a large common room. Through the years Bryant Hall housed the university library, a gym for women in its basement, and the fine arts departments, including speech, theater, and art. Completely renovated in 2007, it is currently home to the departments of Classics and Philosophy and Religion.

The lobby of Bryant Hall includes a globe, reportedly 6 ft. in diameter, that slowly moves, mimicking the rotation of the Earth. 6 feet in diameter. It was designed by Todd Ulrich, president of Cincinnati-based Worldfx Inc., which provides state-of-the-art, real-world visualizations of the Earth using satellite imagery. It took nine months to build.
